For Dr. Matthew J. Trovato, the drive to excel is deeply rooted in plastic surgery’s ability to restore. This passion propelled him to excel at Duke University, where he graduated cum laude and received an offer to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society at Rutgers for his M.D.
It spurred him to develop the knowledge and skills that would aid him in making his patients whole, including board certifications in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. From there, his desire to learn more about plastic surgery’s healing properties led him to sub-specializations in microsurgery, craniofacial, and pediatric surgery. He trained under the nation’s best surgeons, with fellowships in Hand and Microsurgery at the Buncke Clinic, with John Q. Owsley, M.D. in San Francisco, and in Craniofacial Surgery at UTSW Dallas.
Through these years of study, Dr. Trovato developed an incredible ability to change lives through his transformative work - most notably, the lives of children. He is a founding member of the Pediatric Plastic Surgery Institute and directs its craniofacial surgery fellowship. He is also a clinical instructor at Baylor University Medical Center, Methodist Dallas Hospital, and Texas A&M Medical School.
When it comes to his patients, Dr. Trovato’s philosophy of restoration is far more than skin deep. Fluent in English and Spanish, his bedside manner allows patients to feel comfortable expressing themselves as they share how they want to go through life.
He works with each patient to create a holistic approach to life and aging, using the latest techniques developed over years of careful study and research. Dr. Trovato’s goal is to help each patient fight the deteriorating effects of age, injury, and illness through just the right amount of intervention. These interventions can consist of hormone therapy, weight-loss therapy, and anti-aging therapies. By developing a plan that uses these interventions as needed, he can preserve his patient’s longevity and encourage each patient to experience life completely through his restorative approach.
Of course, with his multiple board certifications and sub-specialties, Dr. Trovato is in demand most often for his surgical skills. His most frequently requested procedures include breast lift and augmentation, abdominoplasty, and Brazilian Lifts. His innovative techniques to minimize downtime after in-office procedures make him very popular for eyelid lifts, cheek lifts, lip rejuvenation, fat grafting, and chemical peels, as well as laser procedures.
Dr. Trovato is also an expert on male plastic surgery procedures, including neck lifts, male breast reduction, and chin and pectoral augmentation. Dr. Trovato considers it his honor to pass the skills and knowledge he has acquired to others, both as a surgeon to his patients and as an educator and research partner to his fellow plastic surgeons. He is a member of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and a diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. He has multiple hospital appointments, including as Co-Program Director of the Pediatric and Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship at Medical City Dallas, and affiliations at Medical Center of Plano and Forest Park Medical Center.
