Benefits of Breast Augmentation

While breast enlargement surgery offers numerous life-changing benefits, it cannot correct issues such as significant breast sagging.

Depending on your unique situation, your surgeon may recommend a breast lift in conjunction with your breast augmentation surgery to achieve the best possible outcome. Schedule your initial consultation now to meet personally with Dr. DiBernardo or Dr. Trovato and discuss all of your treatment options.

Breast augmentation is about more than just creating a larger cup size. With an artistic eye, our New Jersey plastic surgeons strive to create beautiful breasts that complement your natural body. If you want to correct breasts that are uneven, naturally small or have lost mass and volume following pregnancy or weight loss, breast augmentation may be your ideal solution. The procedure offers transformative benefits such as:

  • Increased breast size and fullness
  • Refined breast shape and contour
  • Restored volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Correction of breast asymmetry
  • Enhanced cleavage and projection
  • A more balanced, proportionate figure
  • Improved breast firmness and youthful appearance
  • Boosted self-confidence and body image
  • Wider clothing options and better fit
  • Long-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Customized outcomes with 3D imaging technology
  • Minimally visible, strategically placed scars

Is Breast Augmentation Right for Me?

As a woman, your breasts play a critical role in your self-image and sense of femininity. If you are disappointed in the appearance of your breasts because they are small or disproportionate, breast enhancement can boost your self-confidence by creating a more attractive and proportionate physique.

Is Breast Augmentation Right For You?

If you are at least 18 years of age for saline breast implants or 22 years-old for silicone breast implants and in generally good health, you are likely a good candidate for breast enlargement.

Additionally, ideal breast augmentation candidates:

  • Do not smoke or are willing to quit before surgery and throughout the recovery process
  • Are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are at or near an ideal weight
  • Have sufficient breast tissue to cover the implant
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Are able to adhere to your surgeon's postoperative instructions

This list is only a general overview and by no means intended as a substitute for meeting personally with our plastic surgeon. During your initial consultation with your surgeon, they will thoroughly assess your physical condition, review your medical history, discuss your goals, evaluate your candidacy and explain all of your treatment options. Together, you will collaborate on a solution that is best suited for your body, budget and lifestyle.

The Ideal Breast Implant: The Best of Both Worlds

The Ideal Breast Implant is one of the most revolutionary innovations in breast implant technology to date, offering the benefits of both saline and silicone implants. Although the Ideal implant is filled with saline, its internal structure enables it to look and feel as though it were filled with silicone gel.

Its unique design features a number of nested shells that provide support and prevent bouncing. These are a new classification of Implant: "structured Implants."

Since saline is a safe and natural fluid, patients can feel safer in the rare event of a rupture while still benefiting from the natural look and feel of silicone. Ideal Breast Implants have a lower rate of rupture and a lower rate of capsule contracture than both silicone and saline implants. Saline implants, including the Ideal Breast Implant, are designed to be "early warning" to rupture. This means that patients who have them will be able to avoid regular MRIs.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation can create a soft, natural increase in breast size. The technique is performed to subtly enlarge the breasts, achieve breast symmetry or enhance the results of other breast implant options.

In the process, fat is removed from another area of your body, typically the buttocks, thighs or love handles through a gentle liposuction technique. The harvested fat is then processed and purified before being injected into the breasts. In addition to providing a refined breast enlargement, the procedure offers the added benefit of slimmer thighs, buttocks or waist. During your initial consultation at New Jersey Plastic Surgery, all of your breast augmentation options will be discussed and a customized treatment plan will be created specifically for you.

Types of Breast Implants

Our New Jersey Plastic Surgeons sculpt breasts with a vision. We look at you as a whole and carefully evaluate your dimensions, stature, goals and lifestyle. With this comprehensive approach, they can create contours that look and feel exceptionally natural, aligned with your unique goals and physique.

You deserve the freedom to improve your breast size and shape. However, your choice of implant should be guided by your anatomical measurements and tissue mechanics. Many breast implant complications, such as poor shape and rippling, result from an initial misjudgment at the first surgery. Our New Jersey Plastic Surgeon's extensive experience with both breast augmentation and breast revision surgery gives them a unique understanding of the long-term outcomes of every decision made in your procedure. They will work closely with you to help you choose the implant option that is best suited for your customized treatment. One of the most important decisions in breast enlargement surgery is the type of implant that will be placed. Each type of breast implant has unique benefits and considerations. Our doctors offer the following implant options:

Saline vs. Silicone

Deciding between saline and silicone implants is a crucial part of your breast augmentation journey. Our expert cosmetic breast surgeons will guide you through this important decision based on your body type, aesthetic goals, and lifestyle factors. Here's a comprehensive look at the benefits of each option:

Saline Implants

  • Filled with sterile saltwater, which the body can safely absorb if a rupture occurs.
  • Ruptures are immediately visible, eliminating the need for regular MRI screenings.
  • Typically require smaller incisions as they are filled after placement.
  • Allow for minor size adjustments during surgery for optimal symmetry.
  • Provide a firmer feel that some patients find appealing for upper pole fullness.
  • FDA-approved for patients 18 years and older.
  • Often a more cost-effective option with lower upfront investment.
  • Available in structured options like the Ideal Implant that combine saline safety with silicone-like feel.
  • Excellent option for patients concerned about silicone in their body.

Silicone Implants

  • Filled with a cohesive gel that closely mimics the feel and movement of natural breast tissue.
  • Modern "gummy bear" options maintain shape even if the outer shell is compromised.
  • Less likely to show rippling, making them ideal for patients with thinner skin or less natural breast tissue.
  • Available in a wide range of profiles, shapes and sizes to achieve a truly customized look.
  • Provide a softer, more natural feel that many patients prefer.
  • FDA-approved and celebrated for their safety and durability.
  • Excellent long-term aesthetic results with high patient satisfaction rates.
  • Advanced options include anatomically shaped implants for a natural breast slope.
  • Particularly beneficial for breast reconstruction and revision surgeries.

During your breast enhancement consultation, Dr. DiBernardo or Dr. Trovato will thoroughly discuss these options, address your questions, and help you select the implant type that will best achieve your desired results.

Breast Implant Placement Options

Dr. DiBernardo or Dr. Trovato will guide you through each decision you make throughout your process, and recommend the breast implant placement option that is most appropriate for your surgical procedure.

Breast implants are placed within surgically created "pockets". The location of your breast implants will impact the ultimate look and feel of your results. Our surgeons offer the following breast implant placement options:

Subglandular Placement

The breast implant is placed behind the breast tissue and above the chest muscle. This option is often chosen by women with thicker natural breast tissue and it can improve the appearance of mild sagging.

Submuscular Placement

The breast implant is placed beneath the chest muscle. It provides more natural soft tissue "padding" over the breast implant and is typically a good option for women with little natural breast tissue or those who do vigorous chest muscle exercises or body building.

Dual Plane Placement

This option employs both subglandular and submuscular placement; the upper part of the implant is submuscular while the lower part of the implant is covered only by breast tissue.

What aesthetic issues can be addressed with Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a versatile solution to a wide range of aesthetic concerns. Our board-certified surgeons use advanced techniques and customized approaches to address your unique concerns and help you achieve your desired appearance. Some of the aesthetic concerns addressed include:

  • Small or Underdeveloped Breasts: Enhance breast size for women who have naturally small breasts or those who feel their breasts never fully developed.
  • Post-Pregnancy Changes: Restore volume and lift to breasts that have deflated or lost shape following pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Asymmetry: Correct naturally occurring or post-surgical breast asymmetry, creating balanced, proportionate breasts.
  • Tubular or Constricted Breasts: Address tuberous breast deformity by expanding breast base width and adding projection.
  • Post-Weight Loss Deflation: Restore fullness to breasts that have lost volume and shape after significant weight loss.
  • Aging-Related Changes: Combat the effects of gravity and aging by restoring youthful contour and position.
  • Proportional Imbalance: Create harmony between breast size and hip width for a more balanced silhouette and better-fitting clothes.
  • Breast Projection: Improve forward projection for breasts that appear flat or lack dimension.
  • Cleavage Enhancement: Create more defined and attractive cleavage through strategic implant selection and placement.
  • Upper Pole Fullness: Add volume to the upper portion of the breast for a more rounded, youthful appearance.
  • Post-Mastectomy Reconstruction: Restore breast appearance following cancer treatment or preventative mastectomy.
  • Self-Image Concerns: Address psychological and emotional distress related to breast appearance, improving confidence, body image, and quality of life.

Breast Augmentation Revision and Implant Removal Surgery

Breast augmentation revision is highly complex, and requires the skill of an experienced breast surgeon to achieve exceptional results the second time around. For this very reason, patients across the country choose our doctors at New Jersey Plastic Surgery to perform their breast revision and implant removal surgeries.

With nearly three decades of distinguished experience and proven results, Dr. DiBernardo and Dr. Trovato are uniquely qualified to perform these intricate procedures. Breast augmentation revision surgery is more than just an opportunity to correct a troubling issue; it is your chance to get the beautiful, balanced results you've always deserved. Women seek breast revision or implant removal for a variety of reasons, from cosmetic to medical. You may desire revision surgery because your breast implants have lost their shape or your aesthetic preferences have changed in the years since your initial implants were placed. Perhaps you simply want to upgrade your implants with modern alternatives that cause less rippling or look more natural.

Ruptured implants can pose a significant health risk. If you've noticed a change in breast shape or size, inflammation, pain or a change in breast texture, you should contact our office right away for a diagnosis and treatment plan. Whatever your motivation for seeking breast augmentation revision or implant removal, our surgeons will design a surgical plan that ensures impeccable, natural-looking results and will help to avoid complications in the future. They will tailor your breast revision based on your unique characteristics and goals.

Incision Options for Breast Augmentation

During your initial consultation, New Jersey plastic surgeons Dr. DiBernardo or Dr. Trovato will explain the unique benefits of each incision option and recommend the right choice for you. At every step along your transformative journey, he will answer your questions, address your concerns and ensure you are making the best decisions to reach your ultimate goal.

When selecting the appropriate incision option for your breast enlargement surgery, our surgeons will consider your anatomy, choice of implant material, and goals for the procedure. They will discuss the following incision options with you and recommend the one best suited for your unique circumstances:

  • Inframammary: The inframammary incision is made along the breast crease. It is often used for larger implants and for silicone implants.
  • Transaxillary: The transaxillary incision is made discreetly in your armpit. It prevents scarring on the breast itself and heals rapidly.

Advanced Vectra 3D Imaging Software

With so many breast implant options available to you, it may be difficult to picture what your results will look like in regard to their size, shape and material. Fortunately, New Jersey Plastic Surgery utilizes advanced Vectra 3D Imaging, a revolutionary approach to visualizing different implant sizes, shapes and styles to determine which option is best for you.

The Vectra 3D Imaging system uses six cameras, positioned at different angles. High-resolution images are captured of your chest area and are converted into a 3-dimensional digital model. Your doctor can then apply your breast augmentation options to the model, and provide a visual simulation of the results you can expect - in other words, you can see what your breasts will look like before any surgery is done. By incorporating precise measurements and body mapping, the Vectra 3D Imaging system delivers an incredibly accurate depiction of your final outcome and allows your doctor to make adjustments that reflect your tastes and preferred results from every angle.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

You will be provided with detailed preoperative and postoperative instructions to ensure an optimal recovery. You will receive a prescription for pain medication after your surgery, but most patients are able to manage discomfort with only over-the-counter medication after just a few days. You will be restricted from partaking in certain activities, tasks, and movements following the surgery.

Depending on the level of activity required for your profession, you will be able to return to work within a week. A constrictive bra or top will be given to you to help minimize movement. Every patient heals differently. You will return to our office for regular postoperative visits to ensure your recovery is on track. Your results will become visible within a few weeks, and will continue to improve as the swelling reduces over the following months.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?

The cost of breast augmentation varies greatly from patient to patient, depending on factors such as the type and style of implant chosen. Breast augmentation is considered an elective surgery and is usually not covered by health insurance.

If paying for your breast enlargement out-of-pocket is not an ideal option, financing options are available through CareCredit and PatientFi. Our staff is happy to discuss all of your payment options and can provide you with financing information during your initial visit to our office.
